HOW TO WASH YOUR HAIR: THE 6 MOST COMMON MISTAKES

WASHING YOUR HAIR WELL MAY NOT BE AS SIMPLE AS IT SEEMS. HERE ARE THE 6 MISTAKES YOU MAY HAVE MADE WHEN WASHING YOUR HAIR

Having shiny, soft and above all healthy hair is everyone's dream. It is important to always take care of them and pay attention to their changes, since they are the first to be affected by stress and any change in our state of health.

Even if taking care of our hair is a daily, routine and almost trivial activity, are you sure you know exactly how to do it? In fact, there are many unconscious mistakes that we make every day in the care of our hair.

So here are the 6 mistakes not to make to wash your hair properly:

1. Wash your hair every day especially when it seems like you always have greasy hair

Different hair types require different care, including the frequency of washing. Washing your hair every day can be a mistake if you have dry, curly or damaged hair but it can be useful, in exceptional cases such as if you suffer from serious dandruff problems. How often to wash your hair therefore depends on the types of hair to be treated.

So how often to wash your hair? Generally speaking, twice a week should be enough. You can go up to three if you have particularly oily hair, but be careful! With this type of hair you should never overdo it, in fact, washing it too often could alter the hydrolipidic balance of the skin leading to an even greater production of sebum. In other words, it would have the opposite effect!

2. Do not use natural products such as conditioner and shampoo without petrolatum silicones and parabens

Silicones, petrolatum and parabens are substances used in all conventional cosmetics such as make-up, body and face creams and also in hair products. These substances are extremely harmful as they cover the shaft of our hair with a waterproof film that ends up "suffocating" the hair, making it dry and brittle. By suffocating the hair fiber, they tend to get dirty more easily, making the hair greasy after a day of washing.

To avoid all this, buy conditioners, masks and shampoos without silicones and other harmful substances, easily identifiable by examining the INCI, i.e. the list of ingredients that we find on the product label. These products may be a little more expensive than the ones in the supermarket but they will pay off by making your hair look amazing.

3. Do not apply conditioner

The conditioner is for many a must among hair care products. For others, however, it still seems to be wrapped in an aura of mystery or worse, it is believed that it greases the hair too much.

Instead, conditioner should always be part of your regular washing routine if you want to wash your hair well. Not applying the conditioner, in fact, would dry the hair excessively and lose the opportunity to give it the nourishment necessary to make your hair soft and shiny.

4. Apply the balm to the scalp

The hesitation of many in applying the balm often derives from its incorrect use. Many of those who don't use it, for fear of getting greasy and heavy hair, it's because in the past they applied the conditioner from the roots, on the skin. Instead, the correct way to apply this product is from the ends. Once shampooed, wring out the excess water and apply the conditioner only to the ends, up to three quarters of the length, with circular massages which, by slightly heating the product, make it even more effective and allow it to penetrate deeply. This way you won't have greasy hair after a day but nourished, bright and soft hair.

5. Using 2 in 1 products I can do without conditioner

Many rely on the "miraculous" 2 in 1 products that promise to save time and money since only one product can be applied and used instead of two. However, as often happens, not all that glitters is gold.

There are two reasons why these products should be avoided; on the one hand, in fact, the different points where these products are to be applied are not respected (from the scalp to the tips for the shampoo and only on the tips for the conditioner), on the other hand these products often contain silicones, petrolatum and parabens, which are very harmful to the hair.

6. Rub wet hair

Hair, when wet, is very fragile. For this reason, avoid stressing them as much as possible before drying.

It is absolutely forbidden to use rough towels and to rub the hair together and with the towel. To dab excess water, use a soft towel in natural fibers that respects the hair and does not charge it electrostatically.

Once towel-dried, comb them delicately, starting from the ends and working your way up towards the skin. In case you encounter particularly tenacious knots, hold the lock still with one hand to avoid stressing and pulling the root too much.
